I have seen the enemy, his name is rick.
A man brings a fetus home. The fetus was born premature, at 20 weeks. The man takes his bundle of joy to his children, aged 6,4, and 1 1/2. The man spends several hours with his children hugging, kissing, and singing to the dead would-be-child. Photos are taken, and are prounly displayed. They name the "child" Gabriel. What serial killer is this? Sadly, to the best of my knowledge, this is no serial killer. This isn't something from the crime library, nor something out of the pages of Batman. This is the private life of Senator Rick Santorum.
Normally, I'm not the type of person who cares about the private lives of politicians. To be honest, I tend to find them nonfactors, so long as they do their job. I don't believe in electing popes and saints to run the United States. My anger, my disgust, my rage here is not because he is a member of the government, but because this is a human being who is abusing his children, and getting away clean. I'll be the first to admit, I'm a morbid son of a bitch. On top of that, I don't like children much either. But taking a dead fetus, having children hug it, kiss it, sing to it...goes to far even into my imagination. There is no justification for this sort of abuse. Just the scene of parents having sex together can shatter the psyche of children, so what the hell is something like this going to do? Someone call Child Protection Services!
Senator Santorum portrays this as an act of love and teaching. He seeks to teach his children that "Gabriel" was their brother, a living human being, and not just an abstract fetus. Child molesters also see their acts as a form of love. This man is sick. And the scary part is, he actually believes what he is saying and doing. I'm willing to give some leeway to the motive itself. Though I disagree with his conclusion, if he had brought home pictures, and sat down with his kids and explained the very same thing, I might have actually had an ounce of respect for the man. He would have been bringing reality, and love (and even his point of view) to the kids, helping them to understand what happened. But that isn't what occurred here. His ilk speaks of a "culture of life." The only thing present here is a "cult" and certainly not of life, but of death. While others may exploit the powerful imagery of Santorum for petty politics, I feel that he is something far more scary.
I do feel bad for the Santorum's and their loss. However, there are things you do not do to children. He has crossed a line. Someone call DYFS. Someone get those kids away from him. Having pictures of "Gabriel", and speaking about "him" the way he does, is not the product of a sane mind. It plays out like the satirical "UNITED APPEAL FOR THE DEAD" in the Kentucky Fried Movie, however there is no laughter, or Bruce Bixbie (also dead).
I have hate and fear for this man. He must go down. His kind must go down...before they destroy us all.
